: Legal Pad | LA'Nash Bridges' judgment increased by nearly $28.5M
By Richard Binder
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael L. Stern has ordered that Rysher Entertainment LLC must pay Don Johnson Productions approximately $28.5 million in pre-judgment interest. In addition to a jury?s $23.2 million verdict from July, the total judgment amounts to more than $51 million.
Stern said he was giving the actor 10 percent annual interest dating back to 1998, when he signed his contract with Rysher. Johnson continues to be entitled to half of the future profits of the "Nash Bridges" series.
Kirkland & Ellis LLP partner Mark Holscher represented Mr. Johnson both at trial and in the post-trial proceedings. Rysher lawyer Bart H. Williams says there will be appeals.
