Ground Beef Recalled Due to Salmonella Contamination

Washington, DC: Over 400 tons of ground beef were recalled today when officials linked the meat to a salmonella foodborne illness outbreak. The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced that Beef Packers, Inc. of Fresno, California has recalled approximately 825,769 pounds of ground beef products linked to an outbreak of Salmonella Newport in Colorado.
