: Legal Pad | LAFirm collaboration yields new child care center in LA
By Richard Binder
On June 1, Munger, Tolles & Olson and O?Melveny & Myers, along with investment firm Oaktree Capital Management, started work preparing a new joint child care and early education center in downtown Los Angeles. Operated by Bright Horizons Family Solutions, the center is scheduled to open in the fall and will house 88 children, from infants to pre-kindergarteners.
The creation of the center was spearheaded by Munger Tolles attorney Kate Anderson, who returned to her job after the birth of her twin girls and noticed many fellow attorneys struggling with finding child care for their kids. She
said her firm partnered with O'Melveny and Oaktree because, with about 200 lawyers, Munger, Tolles & Olson did not have the economic scale to open its own child care center.
