: Legal Pad | LAAvalon makes number 33 for BB&K

The City of Avalon on Santa Catalina Island has hired Best Best & Krieger LLP as its city attorney, becoming the 33rd city in California where the firm holds that key position. Terms of the contract were approved last night by the Avalon City Council. The council voted to hire the firm in closed session on Aug. 18.
BB&K attorney Scott Campbell, based in the firm?s Los Angeles office, will serve as city attorney for Avalon. As city attorney, Campbell will advise and provide counsel to the city council and other city departments and officials. Among other things, he will provide advice on the legality of proposed actions and review city council reports, ordinances and agreements. Campbell has said he will help the city apply for federal stimulus funding aimed at upgrading the city?s sewer system and wastewater systems.
