: Effective, Ethical Marketing For AttorneysFocus Your Mind On One Thing At A Time
By Ben Glass
There is nothing more annoying than talking to people on the phone about an important matter and hearing them typing on their keyboard or the ding of emails arriving in their inbox. You know these individuals aren't fully paying attention and really, they know it too.
Our minds are not designed to be the most effective doing five different tasks at once. Multitasking is not an efficient way to get things done. When you don't multitask, your mind can become very powerful, as you are able to concentrate on the activity at hand. Focusing your mind on just one thing at a time will give you the opportunity to get things done well.
We all have daily interruptions in our lives and it is important that you learn how to manage them. Phone calls, emails or people coming into your office, can disrupt you from your work and cause you to spend more hours at the office than you would like. You need to make the conscious decision to not allow interruptions. That means that you will have to choose to ignore phone calls, emails and other distractions, or at least set aside time for those things.
