Legal Commentary

Thanks to Dan and the rest of the crew for having me back for a second guest-blogging stint.  I met Dan and his lovely wife on the way back from Berlin after the Law and Society meeting last year and was delighted to take up his invitation to blog here then.  I'm just back from this year's meeting in Montreal (at what is certainly the oddest shaped hotel in the world) and excited to be back for a second go-round).

I very much hope that Dan was kidding about smoked meat and bagels at the blog-fest that took place on Friday night.  While I got to Schwartz's for a smoked meat sandwich, I never got to either St. Viateur or Fairmount for bagels.  And I was actually inside Moishe's steakhouse but 3 bachelor parties showed up unannounced and we abandoned our reservation after we hadn't been seated after 45 minutes.   So while I got a taste of the jewish paradise that Montreal is supposed to be, I could certainly have used some more.

I always tell new colleagues that the summer doesn't start until June 1st because it's almost impossible to get your grading done before then and the summer does NOT begin until grading is done.  Well, I'm still grading Federal Courts exams and have 97 Criminal Law exams glowering at me from the dining room table.   So blogging  promises to be a welcome respite from the chore of the year.  It's good to be back.
