K's new favorite toy is a school bus with a toy driver (Ralph) and a little girl to ride in it. It comes with a book about a boy who rides the bus on his first day of school. He wanted to read the book, but I couldn't find Ralph. "Where's Ralph?" I asked him. "We need Ralph!" And he went over and pointed to Ralph, who was on the floor a few feet away. Later he picked up a toy fish, and I put the fish in the bus and made it say, "I can't wait to go to school!" He laughed. He knew a fish didn't belong in the bus! It's so fun to see how much he's learning.I was sitting around talking politics with a bunch of people from class and the professor. The guy next to me was typing on his Blackberry while he was saying something about Hillary Clinton. I could see what he was typing. It was a racy note to his girlfriend referencing a certain item of clothing he wanted her to wear when they met. Talk about multitasking.
The basement tunnels at school are lined with artwork. There's one area with a rotating exhibit. Right now it's a series of photographs called "XX Boys." I cringe every time I walk by it. Then I feel guilty. But really, I'm happy that trans people are having their rights recognized and everything, I just don't want to see nipples when I walk down the hall.
