Weekend Wrap-Up

By "Daisy Duke"

ADVERTISEMENTS
My parents have been in town and the weather has oscillated between glorious and horrific and all in all we've had a lovely time. My Mother & I ordered Save-The-Date's for the wedding while the men-folk (BISMOW & Papa Duke) spent some time at the boat yard doing who knows what with copper paint & wax & sails. All parties were happy with their respective task and even happier they didn't have to accompany the other group.

Today BISMOW and I took my Mother and trekked down to Williams-Sonoma to register. We are also registering at a few other places (because only one store sells the Sham Wow and that alone makes it worth registering there...whoever gets us the Sham Wow wins the prize for the COOLEST FRIEND EVER.) but WS is the bulk of our registry. We love to cook and entertain and we were psyched to finally scan in all of the lovely things we have been lusting over for the past few years. Le Creuset, come to me....All-Clad copper core, sing to me..... Cuisinart, ahhhhhhhhh.

Then of course I managed to delete half of our registry forty-five minutes into it (seriously that should be harder to do....) and the WS clerks we worked with fell into the category of "not awesome." From obnoxious up-selling to utter disdain for our choices, they made it clear they knew way more than us. And the cost of the devices they knew way more than us about? Significantly more expensive. And while there is a certain level of "well we should pick what we like the best" we certainly don't need crystal stemware that comes in at $80 a stem and we are not throwing away our current Wusthof knife collection because you sir enjoy a Japanese brand more. That and our guests are not shelling out $300 for a bread knife. I'm sorry if that makes us low class. And besides, I already took your advice and registered for the way cooler (and more expensive) crock pot so please. Lay off the judgment.

Then I ate a few of their complimentary scones and scanned in a few more things. Who doesn't need an oil mister? I can use the Sham Wow to clean up any messes I make with it. That and any messes Baby Z makes when he comes to visit.
