Vacation All I Ever Wanted

ADVERTISEMENTS
Post Bar Vacay HERE I COME!!!!!

I've thought about a vacation after the bar exam since first year of law school. As of this morning I still didn't have any plans because BFF has been totally non-committal on the subject for the last 9 months. She promised last summer that we would absolutely do something but once January rolled around and I started doing some serious research on the options she totally backed down and kept giving me bullshit excuses as to why she couldn't discuss the possibilities or commit to anything. So today when I found a killer deal to Cancun in August I gave her one last chance. She has a job, she lives with her parents and essentially has no expenses and tons of money saved up. I on the other hand have an apartment that I'm not sure I'll be able to keep when my lease is up at the end of August, I don't have a permanent job offer for after the bar and depending on the feeling of the DA come August I may or may not have a paying intern job for the two months between the bar and results. Regardless of how irresponsible spending $ on vacation might be at this point for me, fuck it. I've put up with 3 years of hell, worked my ass off to achieve mere mediocrity, and have the rest of my damn life to work 60 hour weeks, I might as well take a 5 day vacay while I still can. BFF gave me the usual non committal response again today after stringing me along for about an hour talking about how good the deal I found was, etc. So I put my foot down.

Enter Fashionista. She moved back to her hometown right after graduation, but she's itching to come back and see all of her friends in Useless City. And as luck would have it, Useless City just happens to be the layover stop for all of the affordable flights down to Cancun. So after wasting an entire afternoon playing travel agent instead of studying property we've got it worked out PERFECTLY. Fashionista is flying in to spend a few days in Useless City, most importantly to spend an evening of ridiculous fun with the trivia crew, then we're flying down to Cancun for 3-4 nights of awesomeness and relaxation on the beach before returning to Useless City and then she'll continue on home. HOORAY! We aren't going until about 2 weeks after the bar because of various scheduling reasons. While it would be nice to skip town immediately after the exam ends, having time to put my life back in order, figure out the living/job situation and start packing up my apartment if necessary will be good.

SO EXCITED!!!! Now I just need to cross the bar exam off my to do list, which I suppose means i should get back to focusing on studying property instead of studying vacation outfit possibilities. *sigh*
