: [ Useless Dicta ][Useless] Music Roundup
More of the postmortem on that will come later, but for now I've decided to do a roundup of the music (some great, some bad, and some excellent guilty pleasures) that I discovered in the depths of my iTunes playlist or impulsed purchased from the iTunes store during the last 2.5 week hell that was Fall 2008 finals:
Coldplay's Viva la Vida is simply phenomenal. It is definitely Coldplay's best album so far and it may just be one of the greatest rock albums of all time. I'm particularly enthralled with this album at the moment because as I was writing my final paper for my Prosecution class, on the topic of reforming death penalty jury selection, the song Death and All His Friends came on. That's when it hit me that the title Death and All His Friends would be perfect for my paper, so I "borrowed" it.
Scheherazade by Rimsky Korsakov is quite possibly one of the best orchestral pieces ever. The recording by the Orchestra of the Kirov Opera is probably the best recording of Scheherazade available on iTunes.
Britney's back with Circus and let me tell you, I didn't think I'd like it, but it turns out that is my new guilty pleasure, LOVE it!
Pink's Funhouse is great. Although my all time favorite song of hers is Dear Mr. President from her last album, I really enjoy most of the tracks on this new one.
Lifehouse's latest Who We Are is excellent. Lifehouse is by far one of my most favorite bands so I'm excited that they're getting the much deserved airplay and attention on the radio these days thanks to some of the great singles that come off this album.
I was presently surprised by Kanye West's 808s and Heartbreak, it's kind of catchy really.
Last but not least, thanks to the excellent single You Found Me by The Fray, their second self-titled album due to be released in February 2009 is the one upcoming album that I can't wait for!!!
