Resolved

New Year's resolutions aren't really my thing. I never keep them longer than a few weeks and I know when I make the resolution that it most likely won't last, so what is the point of making a resolution if I know that I won't keep it?

For some reason this year though I do feel compelled to at least make an attempt at some kind of resolution. 2007 got off to a very rough start, and it never really got better. I don't think I have ever been so hurt and so emotionally beaten down in my life. If there was a machine that had a button that I could push to just erase the entire year then I think I would press that button in a heartbeat. Deep down I know that this is all just a learning process, it is a part of growing up, and that life sometimes does just really really suck, but that doesn't make it any easier to try and have a positive outlook on life. Before anyone jumps to any conclusions, this does not all have to do with law school. In fact, law school plays a very minor roll in this reflection. Frankly, I don't really think I was emotionally present and invested in law school in 2007 enough for it to really have an impact either postively or negatively.

So this year I'm making the following resolutions, and I'm making them not because I feel like I need a new years resolution, if I needed a resolution I would just promise to try and go to the gym more and eat less junk food, I'm making these resoltuions because I need to do these things for myself, I want to move on and put 2007 and all of the trauma that it brought behind me.

2008 Resolutions:

Smile and Laugh more.
Try not to be so pessimistic and bitter about everything.
Remember to have fun.
Know that it's okay to cry, but know when to stop dwelling in the past.
Try my best to be invested in the present and look forward to the future.
Stop to notice and apperciate all of the great things going on in my life and in the world around me.
Work hard on being myself instead of letting unrealstic goals and the expectations of others define me.

Happy 2008.
