Real Life Returns

ADVERTISEMENTS

We're back from Vegas, jet-lagged, and both buried under work. One day you're drinking at the Wynn's fancy lounge in the middle of the night, and one cramped plane ride later you're doing 3 hours of court prep with a sniffling client, or in Dan's case, staying at work 3 hours later than usual filing bills. Not much of a transition.

Did you know that now on US Airways they charge you for all food and all beverages, including coffee ($1) and WATER ($2!) WATER! Talk about a terrible customer service experience. They also have no movies and the seats are really small. Not recommended.

Oh, the Tournament of Champions. You want to know how it went. I'd love to tell you. But all I can say is, March 11. March 11. March 11. Set your DVRs.

Two not-related-to-results highlights among many:

Toc lobby pic 1. I acted like a total Jeopardy weirdo. First I took this stalker picture in the lobby of 4 champs and a staff guy.

Then I met Jeopardy great Bob Harris, probably embarassed myself telling him how much we liked his books, and then got him to sign one, which I had very fortuitously put in my duffel bag for the flight. There were at least two Trebekistan disciples in the TOC, so I hope he got a kick out of that.

2. Amidst the buffets and the blackjack, Pawson's Posse worked hard helping quiz him one last time. That was fun. But now, NO MORE EFFING TRIVIA STUDYING!

I get to answer when we watch the game again. Dan gets to read books without educational value (Not that he will). He can end the evening aimlessly looking at lolcats or his fantasy whatever team instead of asking, "You want to U-TOC me?" That last one sounds dirty, but it's just nerdy - I read him fifty games out of the archive of the 2005 Ultimate Tournament of Champions. Yes, I read fifty out loud, Trebek-style. I am one hell of a wife.

Cards in vegas Hear me, ye cards: I now pronounce you: RETIRED.

(Not that we're throwing them out, of course. That would be crazy. I'm still in the contestant pool.)
