Pennsylvania is the New Iowa

By wt

ADVERTISEMENTS
What's the ultimate result of last night? Everything old is new again:
Senator Clinton surprises even herself by winning Ohio, Texas and Rhode Island after 12 straight losses. Senator Obama had spent heavily to try to finish her off: He now faces seven weeks of scrutiny and trench warfare.

Time's Mark Halperin: "To get an idea of how long a period that is in political years, the Iowa caucuses ? remember them? ? were only eight weeks ago."

It's decent analysis that Pennsylvania is now the scene for the next 2 months. Pennsylvania is the new Iowa, except I don't know what Wyoming and Mississippi are then.

Other possible game-changing events:

1. A Florida or Michigan rescheduled primary
2. A superdelegate mass defection
3. Several major endorsements by Edwards, Richardson, or (very unlikely) Gore.

Odds are we're in this thing for the long haul. And, if there was any doubt, that's the way people like it.
