: Legally Blonde AmbitionMonday Morning...Reader's Poll
By "Daisy Duke"
ADVERTISEMENTS
Here we are again. Monday. And in my ever-continuing effort to make Monday's more interesting, or better, or something I'm having another poll. Today we are going to discuss...gasp..dare I say it...tattoos. First I'll share where I come from. I grew up in a household that under no circumstances, 18 or not, would any sort of piercing or tattoo be acceptable. I was thoroughly convinced that my parents would in fact come through on the threat of withholding college tuition money if I ever got the forbidden tattoo. And so I didn't. And now I'm 25 and the crazy days of college spring breaks "OMG that is the the cuuutest butterfly evah!!" or "WOW THIS IS JUST SO MEANINGFUL, THIS MATCHING FAIRY WE ARE ALL GETTING. I"LL NEVER FORGET YOU GUYS!!" moments are kind of, well, gone. Instead now we all drink too much wine & moan about the economy, WHAT IS HAPPENING TO OUR 401K'S, and um, you know. Or we comment on the latest Chanel window on Michigan Avenue, which, incidentally baby poop yellow really should have stayed dead Coco. JUST SAYING. But, what we don't discuss is the totally rad tat we are going to go get this weekend after a long night of sake bombing.
And so, in case you can't tell, I don't have any ink on my porcelain (also known as Casper the Ghost) skin. But tattoos have certainly evolved from the original prison-yard origins, and have become much more socially acceptable. And I'm curious. What do you readers say?
A. Tattoo: NEVER or BRING ON THE INK?
B. Tattoo on my (unborn) child: EH, IT'S THEIR LIFE or HAHA, PERFECT REASON TO NOT PAY FOR COLLEGE!!
C. Any additional comments? I'm curious.
For those wondering, I do know what I would get if I got a tattoo. I'd get a fleur de lis, reminiscent of the one Mignon Faget has on her jewelry. I'd get it in white ink, I'd be terrified anyone would see it, and with that thought I realized that I'm just not a tattoo kind of girl. And? I got my ears pierced, one in each hole, when I was 14. The end.
