Insomnia

This summer I've had an increasing problem with insomnia. It doesn't happen every night, but at least once a week (and sometimes more if I'm really unlucky) I have one of those nights where I'm able to sleep 3.5-4 hours and then for no reason at all I'm wide awake. Or worse yet I'll have one of those nights where I go to bed at a decent hour and cannot fall asleep for the life of me. Benadryl doesn't work, wine doesn't work, it's just downright frustrating. Tonight (or rather this morning) is one of those days. I was hoping maybe it was just a barzam problem, something that would go away once that was no longer stressing me out. But the barzam has been over for 2 weeks and yet here I am, awake at 4:00am. So now I'm hoping that this particular episode is because I'm all hyped up, excited, and somewhat anxious for the rest of this week. Fashionista arrives in Useless City this afternoon. We have a day and a half of fun scheduled starting with a round of Trivia with the crew this evening. Then on Thursday morning Fashionista and I leave for a fabulous 4 night stay on the warm crystal clear waters and white sand beach paradise of Tulum, Mexico!

I'm also slightly nervous about the whole Trivia Boy/Fashionista situation. Things haven't been weird at all with me and Trivia Boy, we've fallen right back into Friends mode without missing a beat, that one night a couple of weeks ago really was nothing more than bad decisions heavily influenced by far too much alcohol consumption. Trivia Boy is also out of town at the moment and may or may not be back in time for Trivia this evening with the crew. I feel horrible that I'm hoping his out of town stuff takes long enough for him to miss trivia tonight. I just get the sense that even though things are cool between us they are not cool between Fashionista and Trivia Boy (sounds like things between them ended badly). And to top it off Fashionista hasn't even told me about her whole thing with Trivia Boy and I doubt she will, and although I certainly won't bring up any of it to her (because I promised Trivia Boy I wouldn't) there is still bound to be a weird vibe if we add him to the mix this week.

On that note, I suppose I should see if I can try and squeeze out a few more hours of sleep before I get to the cleaning that has to get done before Fashionista arrives. Since I'm going to be out until I get back from Mexico next week I've scheduled a couple of barzam and law school related posts that I've been working on for when I'm gone. Have a good week everyone, and for those of you heading back to law school (or just about to start) enjoy the final few weeks of freedom to the fullest extent possible!
