BISMOW & I got a thumbs up/approval on our very own first home together. Of course anything could happen between our signature on the paper and a set of keys, but so far it is looking good. The new place has 1300 square feet of goodness and of course as a woman my mind has slipped to home decor. (Never mind the fact that I'm going broke replacing all the light bulbs in my current apartment ONE. AT. A. TIME. at the pace of two a week and seriously, do I have an electrical problem??) Anyway my budget is quite modest (read: non-existent) but I figured I'd share some favorites with you. Some that I already own, some that I'm planning on buying and some that I drool over but frankly won't be purchasing any time soon.
This is the Crate & Barrel coffee table that I love...it has storage space inside & I love the look. It would in theory replace the antique chest from Europe that already serves as my coffee table, but I want to move that trunk into the bedroom & get something a little more substantial... I'm trying to convince BISMOW it is worth the sticker price.
This is my Crate & Barrel couch that I currently own...I can attest to how comfy it is to sleep on (so can Overflowing Brain) and I purchased it when it came with way nicer fabric selections- now you have to pay to upgrade to the good stuff. This couch gets a lot of compliments & I can't wait to set it up in the new place as it looks in the display photo.
My parents are bringing BISMOW & me two antique lawyer stacks by Globe Wernicke- I'm hoping to look around at some local antique stores & find a map drawer for one of them to complete the look. Nothing is better than decorating with books- especially titles you love on gorgeous shelves.
The new digs have lots of East facing windows so I'm thinking we are going to need some curtains for at least the bedrooms. While I'd love to splurge on curtains, I found some at Ikea that piqued my interest and fall into my budget:
Now if I were going to splurge a statement chair from Pottery Barn would be the first thing I picked....these two make me want to swoon & then curl up with a good book and cup of tea:
And if money were truly no object than this gorgeous bed (in a king size) would come home with me:
How about you? Where is your favorite place to save & splurge for home decor? Do you have a theme? (DJ tells me mine is Preppy Yachting Chic but I'm not so sure...) If you could get anything for your home, what would it be? (And if you know of a place to shop & save please, please share with me!)
