Barzam Madness

ADVERTISEMENTS
I've spent a grand total of 14 hours at Useless Law School today, and my motivation to study has finally returned thanks in part to the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack doing the trick once again. The barzam is scary close on the calendar. I have a mountain of things I still have to learn. But it's okay, because I still have 2 weeks, and this is not impossible. Just keep plugging.

So far that mantra and mindset has worked, I've managed to avoid a massive freak-out. Meanwhile everyone else around me is slowly spinning out of control. So many people at Useless Law have been whipping themselves into an absolute frenzy with keeping track of how many practice MBE questions they've done, how many practice essays they've done, how many note cards they've made, it's just ridiculous. Ms. Fabulous even arranged her entire schedule for the next two weeks around ensuring that she hit the 2000 mark for practice MBEs the Saturday before the barzam. While I definitely plan to hit the MBEs daily in the next two weeks, I certainly don't have a magic number. As I proclaimed earlier today on Twitter, I've only done about 480 MBE questions and I just don't care. It's not the quantity that matters at the end of the day, it's the quality. Frankly, at this point I'm much more worried about the essays subjects, it doesn't even seem prudent to keep doing MBE questions to try and get to some "magic" number.

Right around hitting hour #9 of studying today Trivia Boy had quite a remarkable realization:

"I just wish I knew if the general grasp I have on all of the subjects is enough to pass, cause if it is then I'd say it's time to go home, hit the pool, and grab an ice cold beer."

How do you know when you've studied enough for this monster? I certainly don't feel like I would pass if I had to take the exam tomorrow. But it is a minimum competence exam and you don't have to know everything inside and out, so is there a point at which you know that you've studied enough?
