This has been a long couple of weeks. Long.

The receptionist quit at work. Since I am technically the "law clerk" still, being unlicensed and all, I am doing a lot of petition preparation/paralegaly stuff anyway. So the receptionist quits (via email - klassy) and the paralegals are all screwed because there is no one to answer the phone, so I am also screwed. The phone has been ringing off the hook, there are a gajillion petitions to prepare because it is the end of the month and no one has been able to get their shit together yet, and I worked almost 60 hours in five days last week. Brilliant!

To be fair, everyone in the office - attorneys, office manager, paralegals - worked just as many hours. Maybe more. Welcome to private practice, eh? The one saving grace is that it isn't law school. I am still very pleased about that.

And am also pleased about having a 3-day weekend. During which I will be visiting the office at some point. But not today.
