I started a new blog to focus on food - I will continue to use this space sporadically, but any food posts will be found here. I didn't want the posts there linked to some of my more angsty posts here, so I would prefer if anyone is still reading here that you didn't link back to here from that blog...

Woe is me, for I am in a funk. I should be in a great mood, because for the first time since I quit my job to go to law school, I have an office. Yes, it is true - an office. With a door. And I'm the only one that sits in it.BUT. The new building our company moved into has four floors...

I went to work for a couple of hours this morning, quickly wrote some things, and hightailed it home. Because today it is Sunday, and today I feel like cooking.Sage roast chicken + yukon gold potatoes & roast carrots:French bread:Banana bread with chocolate and ginger (slightly modified from another recipe in Orangette's book):Cashew chocolate crinkle cookies:Mapo tofu (with green beans from the garden):Yum.

At least I am. I am DRAINED this week.Last week, a small group of people were re-audited because there were "concerns" about their performance. I was not in that group, praise jeebus. But a few of my classmates were. A couple of them did not make it through and are no longer with the company...

Tomatoes

We have a ridiculous number of tomatoes. The garden is a wonderful thing, but having a garden is not like going to the store - I would like 5 to 10 nice, ripe tomatoes a week. Year round. Instead, for two months we are buried in tomatoes (so much so that I begin to hate the sight of them, just a little) and the rest of the year I pine for them...

I got my new phone last week, and activated mobile posting. Hopefully I will post more often - I get stuck in this rut where I feel like I have to post something epic and meaningful since I haven't posted in so long. But then I don't have time, or I have nothing that feels sufficiently deep to post about, and I put it off again (I am a lawyer, procrastination is second nature)...

I am so bad at blogging! I am also bad at work-life balance and at eating less than 1400 calories a day. Oh well.1. WorkNear-constant. I worked three weeks straight and then took a day off, and enjoyed it so much I took a day off the next weekend too...

I took a day off yesterday! It was awesome. I did exactly nothing all day long. The last day I had off at home was March 7th. We were in Vegas for 5 days at the end of March, but when I came back everything was a shitstorm... and I was working like crazy before leaving too...

I am terrible. I never post, and when I do post I have nothing interesting to say.1. Work is crazy! Also, I am working all the time and so (a) have very little besides work to talk about and (b) am really tired.2. We went to Vegas. It was fun. I think we stayed about a half day too long, because by the end of it I was about ready to stab my mother (she's living there this winter) and also was dying to not see anyone's ass on a billboard when I left the house...

Busy. Work has picked up, and so I've been working some weekends to keep on top of things. It's not bad though, because I got paid double time this weekend (whoo! holiday weekend!) for 13 hours of work. Also, the work is interesting and the time always goes quickly...

I had a snow day on Friday, December 19th. It was a perfect illustration of how my new workplace values its employees over the almighty Must Put In Forty Hours Or Turn Into A Toad attitude of most employers. Also, it was really nice to be able to stay home and bake cookies...

Or of the intertubes. All of your good vibes must have worked, because I had my second interview on Wednesday and got a job offer that afternoon. Yay! Now I need to figure out what to say in my letter of resignation. Perhaps I will draft two - one that I will actually give to my boss, and one that says everything I wish I could say in the other...

So I think it went well. The guy told he that I'll be brought in for a second round of interviews sometime in the next couple of weeks. My current boss finally hired a receptionist. She started yesterday. She's very nice and I think is going to get screwed over 8 ways from Wednesday working at this place...
