Apparently There is No Such Thing as a Liberal Supreme Court Justice

ADVERTISEMENTS
I'm sitting in class and something has happened that has occurred at least three other times in this young semester. Two different professors have referred to justices like Rehnquist, Thomas, and Scalia as ?conservative justices.? They never refer to the other justices as ?liberal justices.? They are only ?the other justices.? Now that I think about it, I've never heard a law school professor refer to any judge as a ?liberal.? Does this mean that someone like Ruth Ginsburg is the center of the judicial spectrum? Do liberal judges even exist? Probably not in my law school professor's universe.
