- ABA: The American Bar Association.
- BarBri: It is one of the major bar examination preparation course. Basic service includes preparing for the MBE (multiple choice questions), state specific questions (multiple choice questions), and essay questions. A supplemental option (at additional cost) is called “Essay Edge”.
- MBE: Multistate Bar Examination. This is the multiple choice portion of the bar exam, which is comprised of the MBE and a state portion.
- MPT: Multistate Performance Test is the essay portion of the bar examination. It is designed by the same people who created the MPRE. It is essentially a case packet testing your lawyering and writing skills, as well as your ability to follow written instructions.
- MPRE: Multistate Professional Responsibility. This is the so-called “Ethics” exam that you take as a 2L or 3L and it is not part of the bar exam. To be admitted for practice, most jurisdictions require a bar applicants to score above a threshold MPRE score. The passing score vary by jurisdiction.
- PMBR: This is a bar preparation course that you can take in addition to BarBri. It is essentially a database bank for MBE questions. You can purchase a CD set with various MBE topics for an additional fee. PMBR offers a 6-day lecture or a 3-day lecture in late May or July. It is designed to be a supplemental bar examination preparation.
- SBA: Student Bar Association; law school version of the student body.
