: Freedom to DifferSad day for Australian journalism
The news that The Bulletin has been axed (see here) and that the Sunday program is going to be shifted to 7:30am on Sunday morning (see here) is a blow to serious, quality journalism in this country. Despite declining circulation figures, The Bulletin's axing comes as a surprise, but Nine's decision to move Sunday out of its traditional 9am start time follows years of neglect and failed attempts to resurrect the once great Sunday. Unfortunately I think it too will also soon be axed.
Although there is no obvious replacement for The Bulletin, Sunday has already been superseded for a few years now by ABC's excellent Sunday morning programming, headlined by Insiders.
