Privacy in Australia

ADVERTISEMENTS

The  Australian Law Reform Commission?s report on privacy laws in Australia, For Your Information:  Australian Privacy Law and Practice (ALRC 108), has been released.  You can download the three-volume,  2700 page report here, or view the media release and accompanying briefing notes here.

There is a lot to digest in that report, but I am most interested in the recommendation that Australia should introduce a statutory cause of action for serious invasions of privacy.  Read the briefing note relating to that recommendation here.  I will try to comment on this recommendation in the next few days.
