To add insult to injury, under Sharia law, a court has decided not to annul the marriage until the girl reaches puberty. I am assuming that the reason for this is that by that time she can make up her own mind and file for divorce. This being the case, it would appear that at 8 she is old enough to be forced into marriage but not yet old enough to say "no".
