Audition and School Work

ADVERTISEMENTS
Well this is probably my worst kept secret in ages, but here goes; I auditioned for a play this morning for the second semester. It?s actually with the Saint Mary's University Drama Society (SMUDS), which I was a member of for five years. I got the invite to audition some days ago, and seeing how I will be down to nine credit hours in the second term (something which I have not done since my first year of undergrad), I figured that I could spare some more time into it.

The play I auditioned for was Shakespeare?s A Midsummer Night?s Dream, going for the role of ?Puck.? I never read the play before, and I went for the chosen character simply because I had a few friends suggest it to me (as well as a professor here at the law school). It does not involve too many speaking lines (I think it might be around 35 or so, whereas most other plays I did went into the hundreds), and with maybe eight major soliloquies. I don?t think it?ll be too much. Probably the only draw back is that I won?t be at the law school as often, and my only other dedication can be the yearbook and nothing more.

I probably did blog about this a while ago, but I absolutely love to act and entertain, and if I could, I would totally do it for a living. It was probably something in me since my earliest memories in grade school. I have not done a major production since 2002 back at Saint Mary's University (although I have continued to entertain via Domus karaoke), but that does not bother me a single bit; my audition, in my opinion, was great, and I probably made a pretty powerful impression on the director. Now it?s just a matter of time before I may hear of a potential offer for the part (keep your fingers crossed).

Back to the law school side of things, aside from my audition today, the weekend has been a productive one. I got some yearbook stuff done, am all caught up with PPSA (which I am strangely liking now), and Evidence seems to be going well (definitely my favorite class so far this year). But I am now done for the night.
