McCain Pokes Fun At Self, Obama in QVC Skit on SNL

ADVERTISEMENTS

The McCain campaign provided voters with a barrel of laughs this weekend both with John McCain's hilarious appearance on Saturday Night Live, and Sarah Palin's unwitting participation in a prank call with two Canadian comedians who tricked her into believing that she was holding a somewhat bizarre conversation with French President Nicolas Sarkozy.

Maskedavengers
The laugh's on Palin: The Masked Avengers, comedy duo Marc-Antoine Audette and Sebastien Trudel, made a prank call to Sarah Palin Saturday, fooling her into believing that she was on the phone with French President Nicolas Sarkozy.

McCain made fun of both his own campaign (he noted that he is a true maverick ? a Republican without money) and Obama, who he poked once again with great effect with a series of blank commemorative plates to mark the townhall events that Obama declined to participate in.

For her part, Palin participated in a six-minute call with a Canadian prankster pretending to be Sarkozy on a Montreal radio show, despite the prankster's off-the-wall comments that his wife is "so hot in bed" and referring to French rock icon Johnny Hallyday as his special advisor.

Palin, who showed her good humor during a SNL skit a couple of weeks ago, issued a statement saying that she was mildly amused by the prank, ending the statement with: "C'est la vie."

By Sunday morning, the recording of the call had replicted itself many times over on YouTube, and was splashed across news outlets all over the world.

Update: I've replaced the Hulu embed with one from NBC, hoping that readers outside of the United States can view the episode. YouTube clips aren't likely to stay up since NBC Universal polices YouTube for what it considers to be infringing copies of SNL episodes.
