: IBLS Internet Law BlogIssue of Confidentiality?
By Jerry
Hello, this is a question on confidentiality at work. I recently went to my Human Resource Personnel in regards to what happens with your 401K account when you leave your employment. I asked her if i could close the door because i didn't want anyone listening to my conversation. She said it wouldn't go beyond the room. I also had a co-worker with me as he was curious about the answer too. We left her office and within 30 minutes the boss asked us to step into the office where he proceeded to yell and scream at us. Told us not to threaten quitting or we knew where the door was. He screamed at us like we were children, sir,i am 49 yrs of age and don't feel i should have been talked to in that way.We just wanted information. So i decided since i had been there for almost 2 yrs and had no verbal warnings or written warnings about my job performance that i wasn't going to put up with that kind of harrassment. So i left the job, maybe not a smart move but felt it was right. Did she break the confidentiality code? Any information would be helpful. Thank you for your time..Deborah GarlockContact Info:
