: Food Poison BlogContamination problems at Bravo Farms force expanded recall
By Drew Falkenstein
Listeria, this time (and E. coli O157:H7), is forcing Bravo Farms to recall cheese. Today, the company announced that it is recalling all of its cheeses. Bravo Farms sells a variety of cheeses at retail stores throughout the US, mainly on the west coast, including Gouda, Pepper Jack, Tulare Cannonball, and several different styles and flavors of Cheddar cheese. All have been recalled based on positive findings of .
Bravo Farms had previously issued a recall on its Dutch Style Gouda based on its epidemiological implication in an E. coli outbreak that has sickened at least 37 people in 5 states. Now, 'out of concern for any further contamination we have decided to further expand the recall to include all of our cheeses,' the company said. The outbreak has spawned multiple lawsuits.
The company says it has begun thorough testing of its cheese plant due to the E. Coli contamination that was found in the Gouda. Listeria monocytogenes and E.Coli O157:H7 bacteria were detected by California Department of Food and Agriculture during the investigation, the company says.
