: Legal Ethics ForumThoughts on yesterday's MPRE?
Any thoughts? I thought it tested doctrine more deeply than last year's test. Reasonable people might disagree on whether we should emphasize (1) the areas of ethics that lawyers get wrong to the detriment of clients, or (2) a broad range of legal doctrine, to ensure that students crack the books and learn a lot of the law governing lawyers. My sense is that yesterday's test was more of the latter category.
There weren't too many questions on the arcane aspects of judicial ethics. As always, I would have added more client identity scenarios. And I don't know why students need to be tested on the con law issue of the respective abilities of a state legislature and a state supreme court to regulate limited liability for law firms.
