The rarely invoked "rule of necessity" may permit NY judges to rule on an issue affecting their own pay.    . . . .    This story, unfortunately behind a registration wall, details the ongoing power struggle over the anti-Prop 8 litigation in California.  The suits aims to end California's ban on same sex marriage.  Ted Olson and David Boies filed the suit, and now gay groups -- who had initially opposed the tactic of bringing a federal constitutional claim -- want to intervene to help build the record.    . . . .    I couldn't pass up a chance to post about legendary song-writing team Holland-Dozier-Holland, who have sued their law firm for fraud.  If I had to pick out just one their songs, I'd go with "Reach Out (I'll Be There)."  The song is so catchy that even this version has some of the original charm.
