: Dispatches from the Culture WarsAnother Loss for Tangipahoa Schools
By Ed Brayton
In the 7th case in the last 14 years, the Tangipahoa Parish School Board is going to lose yet another case to the ACLU. The Advocate reports:
A federal judge in New Orleans is prepared to rule against the Tangipahoa Parish School Board in a lawsuit over a teacher-led school graduation prayer. But on Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Stanwood R. Duval Jr. gave board and ACLU attorneys until June 27 to work out a consent order, court records show.
Duval's statement indicates the latest setback signaled in the School Board's series of legal disputes with the American Civil Liberties Union.
They lost another case just last week when they agreed to a consent decree over the distribution of Bibles by the Gideons. They've lost on teaching ID in science classrooms. This school district is just crazed about finding some way to get religion in to the public schools, by hook or by crook. You'd think they'd learn their lesson by now as they keep losing these cases. Hell, they can't even get past a motion for summary judgment anymore.
