Texas Execution

Texas is scheduled to carry out it's second execution of 2009, tonight in Huntsville.  It would be the third execution in the nation this year, following earlier executions in Texas and Alabama. AP has this report on the scheduled execution of Frank Moore. Moore would be the second prisoner executed this year in the nation's most active death penalty state. Another Texas inmate was set to die Thursday, and three more were set for next week. According to TDCJ, an additional 12 execution dates are already set in 2009, and more are expected to be added. Tonight's execution would be the 425th in the state since 1982; the 186th execution in the administration of Governor Rick Perry.  It would be the 1,139 post-Furman execution in the nation...continue to full post
