Texas carried out its 14th execution of 2008, last night in Huntsville; the 419th in the state since 1982.  It was be the fifth execution in Texas this month.  Six more executions are scheduled this year, all in November.  TDCJ maintains this list of scheduled executions. Texas has by far the most active death chamber in the United States accounting for more than 37% of all the executions in America. Last night's execution was the 30th in America this year; the 1,129th in the country since 1977.AP has this report on the execution of Greg Wright, via the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
