More on Medellin Execution Date Setting

As noted in this post yesterday, a state district judge in Houston has set an execution date for Jose Medellin, the Mexican citizen on Texas death row whose case has gone to the U.S. Supreme Court twice.  In today's Houston Chronicle, Dale Lezon reports, "Execution date set for teens' killer for Aug. 5."...Medellin's attorney, Sandra Babcock, said she expected to stop the execution, based on concerns about international justice agreements between the United States and other nations. She said she will ask congressional leaders to put pressure on the government to adhere to the agreements, which include notifying the consulates of foreign nationals who are arrested.
