Starting Salaries Coming Down

The Chicago Tribune's reported yesterday that McGuire Woods is cutting starting salaries 10%:

Law firms have rescinded job offers because of the recession. Others have pushed back start dates by several months or asked incoming lawyers to defer their jobs for a year in exchange for part of their salary.

Now their starting salaries are at risk. McGuireWoods LLP confirmed Monday that it will cut starting salaries by 10 percent. In Chicago, the class of 2009 will make $144,000 instead of $160,000.
