: ConglomeratePerspectives on the Law
By Gordon Smith, Christine, Hurt, Vic Fleischer, Fred Tung, Lisa Fairfax, David Zaring
One other course we are adding to the first year (this one as an elective, also to be offered in an upper-class version) that may be of interest to Conglomerate readers is "Perspectives on the Law." This will be team-taught by three faculty members who teach and write from differing perspectives. In its first year we will have a legal historian, a law and economics person, and a critical theorist. The faculty will choose three topics from first year first semester courses. Examples of possible topics include unconscionability, or strict liability in product liability. The faculty will then take turns teaching about and analyzing the topics from the point of view of their particular perspective. The idea is to show students there are many ways to think about law and how it works. I don't think this course would work for all students (which is why it's an elective), but for some I think it could be very cool.
