: ZiefBriefCalifornia Juror in Hot Water Over Facebook Posting During Trial
We're always on the lookout for stories about jurors who cannot resist sharing about their trial experiences on social media. Westlaw Insider reports today on a juror who participated in a Sacramento County murder trial. After the trial was over, members of the jury agreed to stay in touch on Facebook, but one of the jurors noticed that a fellow juror posted about evidence during the trial and informed counsel for the defendants of this fact. As you can imagine, defendants' counsel took full advantage of this information. End result -- the trial judge has ordered the juror in question to file a consent form that would allow Facebook to give the court access to the juror's Facebook postings about the trial or face contempt charges. The juror is fighting this order. Stay tuned for more developments.
