SC Family Lawyer Speaking at Guardian ad Litem Training

By J. Benjamin Stevens

ADVERTISEMENTS

Today, I am honored to be one of the speakers at "In the Best Interest of the Child: The 2011 Guardian ad Litem Training and Update" presented by the South Carolina Bar.  This annual seminar helps provide education and training to Guardians ad Litem in compliance with South Carolina Code § 63-3-820, which requires that attorney and lay guardians 'annually complete a minimum of six hours of family law continuing legal education credit in the areas of custody and visitation.'

Guardians ad Litem are appointed in custody (and some visitation) cases to protect the interests of the children involved.  I strongly believe that having a good GAL can make a tremendous difference in the outcome of a case, and I am thrilled to be presenting "Being a Proactive Guardian ad Litem' at this seminar.  Thanks to the organizer and moderator Gregory Forman for asking me to speak at this year's seminar.
