More ?adult chat? fun at Ofcom

Well Bang Media may have gone, but so called ‘adult chat’ channels/programming still seem to be taking up space in Ofcom’s broadcast bulletin. Unbelievably it looks like all the other channels do exactly the same things that got Bang Media into trouble - remember this is the sector where Ofcom regularly finds ?no editorial justification since its sole purpose is to elicit PRS calls.? (I’m so shocked I may have to lie down), and in the case of the Satellite Entertainment Limited (SEL) they seem to have the same death wish as far as their licences go.

In the last Broadcast Bulletin Ofcom warned SEL that it was considering statutory sanctions (most likely fines) for repeated breaches of their broadcast licenses, specifically condition 11 relating to the retention and production of recordings to Ofcom “forthwith” if requested.

In the current bulletin SEL is guilty of the same thing in relation to complaints about 3 of its programmes. Ofcom notes that SEL did not provide any comments in response to being notified of the breach. ” These two further breaches of one of its licences will be added to the Licensee’s compliance record and will be considered for sanction in addition to the breaches previously recorded.”

Less serious news for Dirty Talk (Dirty TalkLIve) who just get a slapped wrist for the broadcast of sexually provocative behaviour so soon after the 21:00 watershed, which was not justified by the nature and location (on the EPG) of the channel. What that behaviour was?

“Ofcom noted the presenter was wearing a basque, fishnet stockings, and a thong. On several occasions between 21:00 and 21:30 and throughout the remainder of the broadcast the presenter knelt on all fours with her buttocks pointing upwards and lay on her back with her legs open to camera. While in both of these positions she thrust her hips powerfully in a sexual manner so as to mimic sexual intercourse. Although fully clothed, she also stroked her breasts, lightly spanked her buttocks, opened her mouth in a sexual rather than flirtatious manner and mimed oral sex.”

I love the line: ” opened her mouth in a sexual rather than flirtatious manner ” I really need to remember that one for future Film reviews.
