Are there any lawsuits against makers of Fosamax?

By Michael Monheit

ADVERTISEMENTS

Yes, there are lawsuits against makers of Fosamax.

Merck & Co. is the maker of the best selling drug to treat osteoporosis. Merck is no stranger to unsafe drug lawsuits like Vioxx.

In 2009, there were 700 consolidated lawsuits filed on behalf of hundreds of plaintiffs who suffered Fosamax injury.

Nearing the end of 2010, the number of lawsuits has exploded especially since more people have suffered Fosamax injury; more people have been educated about Fosamax injury and devastating side effects; and more people continue to be prescribed Fosamax.

Fosamax has been on the market since 1995. Like hormone therapy replacement (HRT) drugs, bisphosphonates are promoted as one-size-fits-all medication for women of baby boomer ages and beyond. And like hormone replace therapy these Fosamax drugs cause the same conditions they were promoted to prevent.

Women deserve better. Corporate America and big pharma must stop bedding down with the FDA while putting thousands if not millions of women at risk. These are your friends, your mothers, wives, grandmothers, aunts, sisters, and coworkers who never questioned their doctors and obediently took Fosamax.

Where does the system go wrong? When did Merck & Co., know the debilitating side effects of esophageal cancer, jawbone death, atrial fibrillation, stomach ulcers, and now femur fractures? How did they not know?
