: Infamy or PraiseBlawg (Just a Little Bit Harder)
Then again, Mark Bennett isn't your average legal blogger.
At his Defending People blog Bennett has done the improbable, producing both the excellent Constitution Day-themed Blawg Review #282 just a couple of weeks back and this morning's wonderful Janis Joplin-themed Blawg Review #284.
I'll confess that I've never been much of a fan of Joplin's music — it's just not my cup of tea — and to the extent I remember her, it's usually as part of a "celebrity deaths happen in threes" triumvirate with contemporaries Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison. This week's Blawg Review may not have caused me to load up the iPod with Joplin's greatest hits, but it did gain me a better appreciation of how her music touched on universally-relevant themes. Highlights include posts on losing one's freedom in the criminal justice system, losing oneself in the pursuit of a Mercedes-Benz, and the many tragedies associated with untimely deaths.
Peter Black will host next week's Blawg Review at his Freedom to Differ blog.
