The mortgage crisis has hit working families hard and the AFL-CIO is working with the Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America (NACA) to help union members keep their homes.

NACA, a nonprofit organization that provides assistance to homeowners facing foreclosure, will  host two “Save-the-Dream” workshops?one in Los Angeles, Sept. 30?Oct.4 at the LA Convention Center and another in Sacramento, Calif., Oct. 8?12 at the Cal Expo Pavilion. Counselors and lenders will be on hand to provide assistance to individuals, including union members, who cannot afford their mortgages.

These workshops will run 24 hours a day. You can get more information and register for the workshops here or call 1-888-499-6222.

AFL-CIO Executive Vice President Arlene Holt Baker says:

The foreclosure crisis is an epidemic that continues to plague our country. It is compounded by the unemployment crisis we also face. We are working with NACA to help provide assistance to workers and their families who are having trouble with their mortgages.

NACA has contracts with all the major lenders and investors to achieve permanent affordable solutions, such as restructuring mortgages, for many thousands of homeowners.

The foreclosure crisis and the unemployment crisis are symptoms of a larger disease in America?s economy, Holt Baker says.

And like all the symptoms of this disease, we will never fully reverse the foreclosure and the unemployment crisis until our economy is back on track for working families and we?re creating and saving good jobs here in America.
