Thanks so much for the New Year card, and Shana Tovah to you, and of course, to Shana and her lovely husband, my good friend Eric.

As you can tell, my desk is piled up with pending investigations, and, because we're still trying to implement culture changes here,  my outbox is still empty of any new actions.What with all of the politics and competing agendas, it takes a terribly long time to change the way government agencies operate, and we're hoping the "new" SEC initiatives will start getting traction soon after the impact of the new health care bill starts to take hold.

You might have noticed that someone here in the office filed a small action against Neal Greenberg for misrepresenting the risks of the investments he was managing for clients and collecting outsized fees while feeding funds into among others, your firm. The action may or not go forward, given that the US Federal Court shot down our case against Dopamine and the Sonny's, and if Mr. Greenberg bought the same model of paper shredder that your friends in Boston had been using, well..we'll probably have to drop that case before long.

On another note, Bernie; I appreciate your wanting me to impress upon President Obama that you think we never should have stepped up our presence in Afghanistan, that you've been harping on this topic for more than a year, and the fact is, you've been right all along.

As much as The President trusts the insight that I provide, I might have to hold back on passing along your thoughts, only because I'm in a bit of a pickle right now. I'm still trying to explain to him about what caused the Flash Crash, not to mention my trying to do everything possible to make sure that Jamie Dimon remains a contributor. So far, the best I've been able to do is bury any reviews of JPMorgan's role in facilitating your firm's activities, as well as accidentally misplacing a few other JPM files that were in my inbox.

BTW--Its not my office visiting your blog every day, even though your traffic log displays my office address. I've made it a policy to remove desktop computers from my office, as well as from other senior managers here as part of a government-wide effort to reduce costs. The damn network systems never worked anyway, and I can't even figure out what might be spam mail, or real emails, so I figured the whole thing was a waste of time and money. But don't worry, I don't miss any of your updates when I log in from my home computer!!
