: GamePolitics.comReport: Zynga Displeased with Farmville Performance on MSN Zone
By james_fudge
It is common knowledge that social gaming juggernauts like Zynga would like to find other venues for its social games besides Facebook. That's why the company tried setting up Farmville over at MSN Zone in February of this year. But Zynga has apparently realized that Farmville wasn't attracting the kind of audience they wanted or needed.
Now the company has decided that MSN Zone just isn't worth the time, effort and resources any more. According to a report on Inside Social Games, Zynga is walking away from Microsoft's casual game portal because the half a billion monthly users that frequent the site (according to Microsoft) didn't seem interested in playing Farmville. At all.
Is there life for Farmville and other social games outside of Facebook? Probably, but Zynga and other publishers haven't found a platform that works for them except iPhone.
