: Daily Bar NewsEx-college police chief pleads guilty in bribery
By (Daily Bar news)
A former police chief at a Southern California college has pleaded guilty to felony counts, including bribery and perjury, as part of a plea deal designed to avoid a prison sentence.
Kevin Segawa, who was police chief for Mt. San Jacinto Community College in Riverside Countyfor about four years before his resignation last year, entered guilty pleas Wednesday to eight felonies and two misdemeanors.
Prosecutors say he received gifts, loans and benefits from Morgan Allen McComas, owner of Pirot's Towing in San Jacinto. Pirot's received 85 percent of the college tow calls even though several companies were supposed to share the work.
The 39-year-old Segawa is expected to be sentenced Aug. 24 to a year in jail and placed on three years' probation.
