Elizabeth Loftus, a University of Washington psychology professor, spends lots of time in courtrooms, trying to promote accuracy in eyewitness testimony and recovered memories. In the wrongful conviction world that I inhabit, she is praised by some, reviled by others.

The Web magazine Slate.com recently published a multi-part series about Loftus' controversial research, controversial theories and controversial court testimony. Over eight days, journalist William Saletan shared his in-depth reporting about Loftus.
