By Greg Webb
Nissan Motor Co. recently recalled Infiniti G35 sedans and coupes because a wire harness for the airbags may wear down, resulting in failed airbag deployment in a collision as reported by Yahoo! News. Infinity is the luxury car brand made by parent corporation Nissan.
Because airbags are an essential safety device during a crash, it is imperative that Infinity drivers ensure their vehicle is not affected by the recall.
The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration ("NHTSA") says the recall includes over 134,000 models, including Infiniti G35 sedans from the model years 2005-2006 and G35 coupes from 2005-2007. The majority of recalled vehicles are sedans.
A red warning light will appear on the dashboard when the airbag signal is faulty. Nissan Infinity owners should take their cars to an Infiniti dealer immediately should the light be on. Other Infiniti owners will be contacted by Nissan in the near future.
For more information about automobile recalls, visit NHTSA's website at: www.nhtsa.gov
Nissan (Infinity) is applauded for fixing this safety defect. Let us hope no one is injured before the necessary repairs are made. If you own one of the affected cars, please schedule your repair as soon as possible.
