: Illinois Nursing Home Abuse BlogNursing Home Resident Falls as a result of Employee Error
By Levin & Perconti
The Madison Record is reporting a case of serious nursing home abuse in Illinois. A woman is claiming that nursing home employees allowed her to sustain numerous injuries. They are claiming that she sustained numerous ankle and leg injuries after they allowed the victim to fall in the shower. She also claim that the nursing home employees allowed her to be hit by a motorized wheelchair.
The nursing home negligence victim has now filed a nursing home lawsuit in St. Clair County Circuit Court. The nursing home negligence lawsuit claims that the while the victim lived at the nursing home, they violated her rights through multiple acts. Some of these nursing home employees failed to elevate the woman?s feet in order to properly care for an edema. It also claims that they failed to assist her to the shower which resulted in the injuries to her ankle and her leg. Finally the nursing home lawsuit claims that the victim had a contusion to her leg due to the nursing home employees bumping her with a motorized wheelchair. She is seeking a judgment of more than $30,000 plus other costs.
Many studies have shown that nursing home staff levels contribute the most to nursing home negligence. If a nursing home has a high patient to staff ratio, they tend to have decreased nursing home abuse. If you or a loved one reside in a nursing home with insufficient staffing levels, please consult a Chicago nursing home lawyer. To read more about this nursing home lawsuit, please click the link.
