: Northern Virginia Personal Injury LawyerThe Insurance Company Doesn't Want You to Work with a Lawyer
By Ben Glass
No one teaches you what you are supposed to do after a Virginia car accident, so you are often left with a lot of questions. Do you talk with the insurance adjuster? Is the settlement you were offered a fair amount? What about hiring a personal injury lawyer, is that a good idea?
In an ideal scenario, you would be able to reach a reasonable settlement with the insurance company with little hassle. After all, insurance companies should be there for you in times of need. In the real world, though, claims adjusters are difficult to work with and insurers frequently make lowball settlement offers.
Not every car accident case requires the expertise of a good lawyer, but many do. The insurance company doesn't want you to work with a lawyer, because the odds of you accepting a lower settlement are better without legal representation.
Accidents that result in serious injuries can be complex and you can rest assured that the insurance company doesn't want to be responsible for the damages involved. Despite how an insurer markets itself, you need to remember that the insurance company is not on your side.
Most personal injury lawyers offer free consultations, so there is really no cost involved to just get legal advice.
