: Effective, Ethical Marketing For AttorneysFocus on What is Meaningful in Your Life and Business
By Ben Glass
You only have so much time available each day and it is impossible to keep adding things to your daily schedule, without subtracting something. I have learned that if I want to have a life focused on the activities I want to do, then I have to cutback in certain areas.
How have I been able to accomplish the goal of actually "having a life?" I have had to remove the following:
Unwelcome pests: You know the ones I am talking about - the people who show up unannounced at your office and demand your attention. They assume you want to allocate your valuable time to them, when really, that is not the case.
Difficult clients: You need to get to the point where you don't have to work with anyone and everyone who walks through your door. Don't be afraid to drop a client who hasn't been honest with you, which causes their case to take a turn for the worse, or if the client becomes too needy. They will end up taking up too much of your time and energy.
Unproductive employees: Your employees should be in a position to help you get things done and if you realize that isn't happening, you need to move on. You also need to learn how to delegate to reliable outsource suppliers and eliminate your employee headaches.
One of the keys to having the life you want is deciding what you can subtract. Once you are able to make this determination, you will find that you are able to focus on what is meaningful in your life and business.
